VISUAL RESEARCH & MISSION STATEMENT

I research the intellectual nuances behind music, specifically Pink Floyd. Most of their songs are instrumental, allowing my own voice to be heard WHILE MAKING thought-provoking work. Their album "Animals" consists of animal echoed sounds and is a critique of the UK’s capitalist economic system in 1977. It gives insight to the ethical and environmental problems of the nation such as the effects of the agricultural industry: pollution, global warming gases, exploitation, and OPPRESSION. Inspired by their recognition of superstructure, and the triangles in their art symbolising new manifestation, I build the triangle shapes to fit the bust, torso, shoulder, back and outer hip area, exploring both the body and not of the body. I CONSTRUCT these shapes with paper in tests of ORIGAMI method FOR MY PROTOTYPE. THEN, I use bra and shoulder padding, wool, and boning for the final TRIANGULAR AVANT-GARDE shape AND SILHOUTTE.
